What is Cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive procedure. It uses cooling technology that results in localised fat reduction. The technology behind cryolipolysis, was designed and developed by dermatologists at harvard medical school. Their analysis revealed that fat cells are more responsive to the effects of cold in contrast to the surrounding tissue. Fat cells crystallise at different temperatures than other cells. It is specific in breaking down the fat cells whilst sparing all the other tissue like the skin, muscle mass, and nerve fibers.
Does it work?
Yes – there are numerous clinical trials, celebrity reviews, and before & after photos which support the effectiveness of fat freezing.
How does it work?
A special vacuum suction cup with cooling plates is positioned on the selected body area. The area is then chilled – fat cells are especially sensitive to cold exposure. When cooled fat cells crystallise and as a result no longer function in their usual way, and breakdown. The surrounding blood vessels, nerves, etc are much less sensitive to cool exposure and remain unaffected. This results in the elimination of the fat cells without damage to the surrounding tissues.
What happens to the fat cells that have been treated?
Fat cells perish and are dissolved into the body via the lymphatic & immune system. The nervous system flushes effected fat cells from the system using the bodies natural processes. The area treated becomes smaller in size over the following weeks as this process happens.
How long is the session?
Each session is up to 40minutes per area, depending on the thickness of the area, and how quickly you respond to the cooling technology. Your treatment will be tailored to your individual requirements which are discussed in your pre-treatment consultation. Additional time may be required if you require more than one area.
How many sessions will I need?
One session is sufficient for most areas. Cryolipolysis has the advantage of not requiring a course of treatment. Depending on the thickness of the fat and your personal goals fat freezing may be repeated in the same area a second time, but is not a necessity. If you choose that you would like a further reduction in the same area, preferable waiting time between sessions is approximately 30 days. This is to give enough time to measure the effectiveness of the initial treatment.
What will the results be?
Clinical studies on cryolipolysis have shown reduction of fat is between 20% to 45%. Results will vary on the individual, the thickness of the fat deposits in each area, and the lifestyle maintained after treatment. Those that follow the aftercare advice, will get the best results.
When will I see results?
This depends on the individual, the fat thickness, and the area treated. Changes happen over a number of weeks, 12 weeks being the estimated time to see the maximum result, although some of our clients begin to see changes at around 2 weeks. In clinical trials 12 weeks post treatment, 9 out of 10 people saw an undeniable reduction in the treated area.
What will I feel during the treatment?
After you have agreed the area, you will feel a “tug” close to the treated area due to the vacuum effect used to hold the area in place during the session, and a cold feeling at the beginning of the procedure at the vacuum site. This is reported as a “different sensation” as its an unusual feeling, but not painful.
We often have clients fall asleep during their session. There is no anaesthetic or numbing agent required during the treatment.
Will it hurt?
People are almost always worried that it will be uncomfortable, but tell us afterwards that there was no pain or discomfort at all, and that it wasn’t as cold as they thought it would be. Your comfort is always of the upmost importance to us.
What will I feel after the session?
The beauty of cryolipolysis is there are generally few side effects. There is no recovery period, or downtime. It is very rare to bruise or have extended redness after the treatment. You can resume normal daily activities without special discomfort immediately after the session, or go back to work if your being treated in your lunch break.
Are the results permanent?
Yes – it is permanent. The fat cells that will be crystalized through the cryolipolysis procedure are absorbed by the bodies natural processes. Once destroyed the same fat cells cannot grow back.
Who is the ideal candidate for cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis is especially indicated for local fat reduction: the ideal candidates are those who want to reduce localised fat deposits for instance on the abdomen, flanks, lower back, hips, thighs, upper arms etc. These tend to be areas particularly stubborn to diet and exercise. Although most people are treatable, it is not an overall weight loss solution. We suggest that the ideal candidate is within or near their ideal body weight range (BMI) people in this group will see the best results. It can also be an excellent additional motivation for those embarking on a change in lifestyle.
Do I need to follow a particular kind of diet or exercise program?
No supplements or diet plan are required and you do not have to change your exercise habits for the treatment to work. However, cryolipolysis is not a substitute for taking care of your body. You may feel more motivated to take care of yourself after the treatment, after all it is an investment in your good looks. Combining cryolipolysis with a healthy diet and lifestyle will only further maximise your result. After care includes advice to increase your water intake, avoid caffine & other toxins to support your bodies natural processes.
What is the main difference compared to other procedures?
The cryolipolysis treatment results in a notable and natural reduction of fat tissue, avoiding the traumatic experience of invasive methods (liposuction), and the risk of damage to surrounding tissue. It is different to other non-invasive laser lipo offerings that use lasers (like i-lipo, strawberry and laser lipo) cryolipolysis, physically destroys the fat cell, and no course of treatment is required as in these other laser based treatments. No exercise is required for the treatment to get results and the results are permanent. The results are not as fast or as dramatic as invasive procedures like liposuction or tummy tuck. But fat freezing is an effective alternative for those wanting to avoid the higher cost, pain, risk, and recovery time associated with surgery.
When you treat the fat in one area, what happens to the fat cells in the rest of my body? Do they move to compensate?
Once the fat cells are destroyed, those cells are eliminated. Fat is not able to regrow again in the same area that was treated. There is no risk of fat from other areas moving over to the treated area to compensate.
Are there any needles?
Cryotherapy is non invasive. There are no needles required.
If you’re just freezing fat away, can’t I just apply an ice pack and get similar results?
The application of the cooling technology is done through a controlled process, this can’t be replicated with an ice pack.
How large is a treatment area?
The application piece treats an area about the size of a saucer.
What counts as a treatment area?
If we treat one area on each arm, that would count as two treatment areas. E.g lower abdomen=1 area. Both hips=2 areas. Both love handles & lower abdomen=3 areas.
What areas can you treat?
Upper & lower abdomen, upper arms, inner and outter thighs, love handles, flanks, muffin top, banana rolls (underneath buttocks), hips, male torso/man boobs. The applicator cannot be used for the chin, ankles or wrists as usually these areas are too small to treat. Cryolipolysis can be used to reduce “man boobs” but cannot be used to treat female breast tissue or gynocomastia.
Do cellulite creams work? Find a Branch Near You
In order to make the best possible decisions when it comes to targeting those pesky cellulite pockets that just don’t want to budge, it is quite important to understand what cellulite is NOT.
Cellulite is NOT, a build-up of toxins or impurities that sit beneath the surface of the skin, which has been a commonly accepted myth for many years. Rather, cellulite is a lifestyle disease that manifests as dimpling (or “orange peel”) on the surface of the skin where most of us commonly store excess fat. The appearance of cellulite is due to a collection of contributing factors, it cannot just be pinned down to one single cause.
Cellulite occurs when underlying fat deposits begin to push through layers of collagen fibres, or connective tissue, under the skin, often in the buttocks and thigh areas, but also on the arms and stomach. Connective tissue can be weakened by hormones, lack of exercise and muscle tone, excess fat, and poor, sluggish circulation.
Cellulite affects women far more than men, because women tend to carry more fat around their hips and thighs, and we have less supportive connective tissue to keep it all in place. Our deposition of fat in the hypodermis (the layer when our fat is stored beneath the skin), differs vastly from that of men, and therefore we don’t see cellulite as much on men.
So, for any product, or treatment for cellulite to be effective, we need to ensure that, that treatment or product can deliver the following:
* Increased blood and lymphatic circulation
* Increased metabolism of the fat cells in the hypodermis
* Breaking and releasing of the fibrous bands that pull down on the skin revealing the dimpled, orange peel
* Balancing of the hormones
When one looks at the various factors you need to take into account, it should now seem fairly obvious why an over-the-counter lotion or cream is not going to yield significant results, as simply applying a cream is going to have absolutely no effect on your hormonal balance, or muscle tone or movement or breaking and releasing the fibrous bands causing the dimpling.
What some topical products DO achieve, however, is the improvement of circulation, by including active ingredients that speed up micro-circulation in the skin. . Connective tissue can be weakened by hormones, lack of exercise and muscle tone, excess fat, and poor, sluggish circulation.

First let’s get the bad news out of the way: There’s still no easy cure for cellulite, a condition that plagues roughly 85 percent of women over the age of 20. That said, there are some things you can do to downplay it’s pearance.
The Weight-Loss Factor
Because half the cellulite equation is fat, it would seem that losing weight through diet and exercise would help. And it might—but that depends on your skin’s elasticity. “If your skin bounces back after weight loss, you may notice a reduction in cellulite,” says Wanner. However, she adds, if your skin isn’t quite so resilient (hormones and aging could be partly to blame), “it can sag, which can make bumps look worse
What Is Cellulite?
SO HERE IT IS:
Under your skin, there’s a network of connective-tissue strands, called septae, that hold the fat in place. If the septae aren’t strong and tightly woven together (which may be determined by genetics), the fat can bulge out between them, creating ripples on the skin’s surface—a.k.a. cellulite. Women are more likely than men to have cellulite, since they have fewer and less tightly arranged septae. Women also have thinner skin, as well as hormones that can affect the size of fat cells and the strength of the septae. To truly eliminate the problem, says dermatologist Molly Wanner, an instructor at Harvard Medical School, “you would have to get rid of the fat and, essentially, change the interior structure of the skin.”

Radio Frequency Treatment:
Radio frequency body contouring (also known as skin tightening) is becoming all kinds of popular as it promises to tighten the skin and improve tone, without any pain or downtime at all.The treatment involves third generation radio frequency technology to offer a non-invasive, pain-free body treatment to help reduce the appearance of cellulite, firm skin, boost collagen production and tackle any pesky fatty deposits that won’t budge with exercise. It’s a
pretty versatile treatment as it can also help reduce flabby skin, tighten bingo wings, contour and tighten a post pregnancy tummy, reduce fine lines and wrinkles (on the face and body), reduce saddle bags and even lift and tighten your bum. What’s more radio frequency body contouring comes with the guarantee that you won’t need any recovery time and is FDA and CE approved after all.
How does it work? Essentially radio frequency treatments deliver an electrical current via electrodes to the skin, in order to heat the deeper and more superficial layers. When our skin receives a high frequency electrical current the cells in our bodies interpret this as an energy source, and the layers in our skin act like a resistor to the electrical current and depending on their level of resistance, will heat up to varying degrees. It is the process of heating that helps to tighten and rejuvenate skin, smoothing its appearance and reducing localised pockets of fat. The radio frequency energy penetrates the skin layers to selectively heat the skin tissue where the collagen fibres are embedded. The local heating causes an immediate contraction of the collagen fibres, and fat cells drain then shrink, while those all important fibroblast cells (part of our connective tissue) are stimulated to produce new collagen and elastic fibres. The effect of this is tighter, smoother, younger looking skin with a visible ‘lift’ . Fat cells are reduced and stubborn cellulite looks a lot less noticeable The treatment itself is surprisingly relaxing. Each area on your body is treated for 20-30 minutes. All that’s required is to show your therapist your problem areas (in this case a flabby tum and less than toned thighs) and lie back on the treatment bed and wait for the magic to begin. The therapist will apply a jelly lubricant to your skin to act as a protective barrier between you and the electrode rod which can get quite hot! Then it the electrode rod (which conveniently is shaped like a three-pronged massager) is rubbed over your skin, focusing on any pesky areas that need extra attention. The technique is so relaxing that actually it’s easy to fall fast asleep – always a sign of a good treatment.
FLABBY ARMS
There is nothing worse than your upper arms doing their own little dance when you wave goodbye to someone. Patients have been asking for a non-invasive solution to difficult to tone, fatty areas like the upper arms (bat wings) and bra bulges, for the longest time.
When it comes to stubborn, flabby bits,
There are also more extreme options such as surgery and liposuction, but not everyone is willing to go under the knife and be left with long visible scars.
Cryolipolysis, also known as fat freezing, Cryolipo or Cool Sculpting, has recently been cleared by the FDA to specifically treat stubborn arm areas such as bat wings or bingo wings.

Ultrasonic cavitation is a simple procedure that relies on sound waves to flush fat from the body instead of intensive surgery.
During an ultrasonic cavitation procedure, noninvasive machines target specific body areas with low-frequency sound waves (they’re what put the “ultrasonic” in “ultrasonic cavitation”) and, in some cases, light suction. This process heats and vibrates the layer of fat cells below the skin’s surface. The pressure eventually causes the fat cells to liquefy and release their contents into the bloodstream. Proponents of the procedure believe that the body is then able to process these fatty acids through its proverbial waste-disposal plant: the lymphatic system.
Yes, but results may vary! Depending on your individual health history and body type, you may slim down more or less dramatically or have longer- or shorter-lasting results than others.
Results can vary greatly from patient to patient. However, most proponents of ultrasonic cavitation claim that you may see three results:
1. Tightened skin and reduced cellulite (due to the production of new collagen and elastin fibers)
2. Reduced circumference in the treated area (due to fat-cell release)
3. An overall contoured appearance (due to a combination of the benefits listed above)
Although most practices that offer ultrasonic cavitation claim you’ll see results after the first session, they also caution that between 8 and 12 sessions are needed for optimum results. The exact number of treatments needed will vary due to factors such as age, weight, and the area being treated.

“Ultrasonic cavitation” is a catchall term for noninvasive liposuction that works through low-frequency sound waves. Different spas and doctor’s offices use different devices to perform their procedures. Though similar, the machines can differ when it comes to the precise frequency and concentration of the sound waves. Some commonly used machine brands are Liposonix, VASER, and Cavi-Lipo.
Ultrasonic cavitation does not destroy fat cells; rather, it empties them of their contents, which means the cells are capable of storing fat again. A balanced diet is the only way to ensure lasting results. Those who take in more calories than they burn will see their improvement start to decrease over time.
